The records of the Newark Public Library, known as Librariana, include manuscript and printed materials, photographs and graphics, and other materials. The bulk of it covers the years from its founding in 1889 to the present. It is arranged alphabetically for the most part.

This collection consists of fliers, photos, postcards, meeting minutes, receipts, correspondence, and other materials related to the Lincoln-Douglass Memorial Association, an African American political organization.

Mattia Family Papers
The collection consists of glass negatives and minstrel show material from the Mattias, one of the first Italian families in Newark.
Mayor Kenneth A. Gibson Collection
Mayor Ralph A. Villani Collection
The collection consists largely of photographs, documenting both Villani's personal and family life and his public activities. There is also some film of family holidays and leisure pursuits. A series of scrapbooks contain clippings, ephemera, and election records.
